It has certainly been a while since I've done any writing here and the long and the short of it is that this PC has been playing up and though its kinda going now it will be rebuilt again from the ground up soon. I've been out working for a while now to obtain money and theres still another job to be sorted,well two actually if I include the work to be done around the house, but after that, say february, I'll be home free and want to spend a considerable amount of time doing my art.
Theres maybe four themes I want to look into as well as making some music. I'll be doing some paintings because I really need to develop that and have been wanting to do so properly for years now and also I have to get back into my work with metal and build some sculptures. I had found the work of Lee Bontecou and that has been a struggle to get over. People say theres nothing new in the world and thats true but when your art is so unlike anybody elses and then you find one solitary individual whos very similar and is well known for that particular "style" then its kinda tricky to re-orientate yourself to do it again. I've encountered a bunch of women artists, here in New Zealand, who have gotten there initial stylings from the work of Remedious Varos, and its fairly obvious that they have but they've been able to evolve away from those beginnings that make it less obvious and because the work is two dimensional and on canvas it isn't apparent how much they have stolen from her. Even in saying that they may have struck out open their stylings without having seen Varos but even in my own description of what I think they've done I've supposed they stole their stylings and with Bontecou's work and my own, being the materials are so similar as well as how they are used, the chances that these parallels will be drawn is much greater even if only in my own conscience. But I'll figure a way through it because I have to.
As well as painting and sculpture I plan to make a bunch of musical instruments of a variety unseen.This has been in the back of my mind for years now and I'd really like to add the electronics I've picked up in the past few years to good old fashioned wood and metalwork.
So in the meantime theres more work to be done and computers to be rebuilt so it may again be a while before anything turns up here. Thanks for watching and mere christmas
